1,035-Room Sheraton Hotel in San Diego’s Harbor Island Undergoing $100MM Renovation

In a bid to redefine luxury and modernize its offerings, the Sheraton Hotel on Harbor Island is in the midst of an extensive $100 million renovation, marking its most ambitious transformation since 1994. The property is undergoing upgrades to the lobby, guest rooms, amenities and dining options, according to a report from the San Diego Union Tribune.

Workers recently dismantled the famed saltwater aquarium at the Sheraton San Diego Hotel and Marina, which is located at 1380 Harbor Blvd. The lobby is set to undergo a remarkable transformation, setting the stage for a refreshed and modernized guest experience.

With the vast majority of the hotel’s 1,000-plus guest rooms already modernized, featuring new bathrooms and updated meeting spaces totaling 130,000 square feet, the Sheraton is committed to providing a top-to-bottom makeover for its guests.

The renovation project, slated for completion by August, will include the resurfacing and updating of the main pool area with contemporary outdoor furniture and cabanas. Additionally, the hotel is reimagining its entire food and beverage offerings, with a recently opened craft brewery pub named Rumorosa.

The ambitious overhaul is not just a facelift but also a strategic investment by the hotel’s owner, KSL Capital, which acquired the property in 2019 for an estimated $69.7 million.
