300-Unit Portside Ventura Harbor Community Completed in Ventura

(Ventura, CA – August 11, 2023) – Ventura Mayor Joe Schroeder, together with city and county officials, formally celebrated the completion of Portside Ventura Harbor, a 300-Residence, master-planned community that brings much needed residential, retail and vibrancy to Ventura Harbor’s long vacant North Side. Under development since breaking ground in December 2016 the transformational project delivers a modern waterfront destination, completing the vision for a fully activated harbor for all of Ventura County. Development team representatives included Jim Rosten, Co-Founder and Principal of Benedict Canyon Equities, Michael Sondermann, Owner of Sondermann Enterprises, Jessica Somes, Director of Asset Management at TruAmerica Multifamily, and Greystar’s Rachel Bazdarich, Business Manager for Portside Ventura.  

Designed by Togawa Smith Martin Residential, Portside Ventura Harbor is the first major new development in the harbor in 30 years and covers 27-acres and features a mix of residential, retail, parks, and outdoor community spaces. Among the early retailers currently operating include a local market and cafe, gelato shop, stand up paddleboard and e-bike rentals, yoga studio, wellness center, art studio and gallery, with a couple of anchor tenants to be announced. 

Other officials attending the festivities were Stephanie Caldwell of the Ventura Chamber of Commerce, Todd Mitchell of Ventura Harbor, Carrie Glenn of the City of Ventura, District 1 Ventura County Supervisor Matt LaVere, and Atticus Reyes, Field Representative from Assemblymember Steve Bennette’s (38th District) office.
