Long Beach, CA – In an effort to attract new investment and jobs at Long Beach Airport (LGB), the City of Long Beach has released a Request for Proposals (RFP) for the aeronautical development of 17 acres at LGB. The available land, known as the Wardlow Parcel, is located on the west side of the airfield.
“Such large acreage being available at our 100-year-old, award-winning Long Beach Airport is a rare opportunity for new development and investment,” said Mayor Rex Richardson. “With LGB’s central location and its role as a hub for economic activity and aerospace innovation, we expect this opportunity will attract strong interest from the aeronautical community.”
The 17-acre Wardlow Parcel is immediately adjacent to approximately 90 acres of land owned by the Goodman Company, previously owned by the Boeing Company and used for the manufacturing of the Boeing C-17 Globemaster III military aircraft. In May 2023, the Planning Commission approved a project master plan for construction of two light industrial buildings on the Goodman property.
The RFP specifies that development of the site should be intended for aviation-related purposes that are complementary and respectful of the adjacent existing businesses.
“I’m looking forward to seeing the aviation-related proposals for this available space, which I’m sure will create jobs and boost our local economy, as we are already a hub for aviation and aerospace innovation,” said Long Beach Airport Director Cynthia Guidry.
Qualified organizations are encouraged to submit proposals through the City’s vendor portal, Long Beach Buys, by 11 a.m. on April 2, 2024.
