A recent land acquisition in Montclair points to the potential for a new residential development to sprout up in the area. According to public records, Montclair Station Apartments LLC, an entity affiliated with Trammell Crow Residential, acquired a site along Monte Vista Avenue and Arrow Highway for $14 million. The property was sold by Vulcan Materials Company.

The site is approximately 9.8 acres and currently remains vacant. The property is located adjacent to the Montclair Transit Station and is also within walking distance to Montclair Place, a shopping center totaling more than one million square feet.

While no plans for development at the site have been submitted, Trammell Crow Residential has developed other properties nearby. The Kendry, a 211-unit multifamily, is located to the south of the site at 4868 Cypress St. and was developed by Trammell Crow Residential in 2020.

Trammell Crow Residential is the multifamily development branch of Crow Holdings. Based in Dallas, the company has been around for more than 40 years and maintains a presence in 17 U.S. markets. Since its founding, the company has developed more than 272,000 multifamily residences.

The company has developed a number of multifamily properties throughout Southern California. Earlier this year, Trammell Crow Residential paid $29.53 million for a six-acre site in Long Beach for the planned construction of a 756-unit residential project. The site is located at 600 W. Broadway near the World Trade Center office complex.
