A 200-unit residential project planned for Panorama City is moving forward. During a recent meeting with the Los Angeles City Council, the City voted to adopt the findings of a comprehensive environmental report for the project, according to a report from Urbanize LA.

The development, helmed by developer Izek Shomof of Shomof Group, would be constructed at the current location of a parking lot at 8141 to 8155 N. Van Nuys Blvd. The plans outline the construction of a modern seven-story building that will house a total of 200 studio, one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments, with ground-floor commercial spaces.

Takacs Architecture is designing the project, with renderings revealing a contemporary low-rise structure.

The environmental study indicates that the construction of this apartment complex is expected to span a 27-month period. However, this timeline remains contingent upon the approval of other discretionary entitlements, such as mandatory site plan review and compliance with the Panorama City community design overlay. These key processes are yet to take place.

The project site is located in close proximity to a number of retail and dining amenities, including the Panorama Mall. The site is also a close commute to Interstate 405 and near the Van Nuys Airport.

The project also sits adjacent to the Panorama Tower, a 1960s office building that has been transformed into housing by the Shomof Group as well. According to a landing page for the development on Shomof Group’s website, the project spans 185,000 square feet and consists of 194 residential units.
