Aragon Properties Expands Plans for Echo Park Residential Project to Include 327 Units

A project that was proposed almost 10 years ago is getting a fresh look. The project by Canadian real estate firm Aragon Properties Corp. would bring approximately 327 units to Los Angeles’ Echo Park neighborhood, according to recently filed plans. Previously, the project was designed to allow for 204 units.

Located at 1185 Sunset Blvd., the project has been dubbed “Sunset + Everett” and would feature designs from architecture firm KTGY.

New plans for the site include two seven-story buildings that will house a diverse range of living spaces, spanning from studios to three-bedroom apartments. In total, the project includes seven studio units, 215 one-bedroom units, 55 two-bedroom units and two three-bedroom units.

The proposal leverages density bonus incentives, and in exchange, would designate 41 of the new apartments as deed-restricted, ensuring they remain accessible to very low-income individuals and families.

In addition to the residential space, the project will offer 9,462 square feet of ground floor commercial space and onsite parking for up to 263 vehicles.

New renderings for the project reveal facades clad in a blend of white stucco and fiber cement panels, with a mix of terrace decks and private balconies for added visual interest as well as serving as an onsite amenity. In total, the proposal includes 35,154 square feet of open space, with other spaces like a landscaped courtyard at the rear of the site including, a lobby at the ground floor, club rooms, lounge space and more.

Situated at the junction of Sunset Boulevard and Everett Street, the property is also near a mix of retail and dining amenities. It also maintains close proximity to outdoor recreation opportunities at Elysian Park and the Dodgers Stadium. Interstate 110 is also a short commute from the site.

The property would not be the only one of Aragon Properties Corp.’s residential buildings in the Echo Park neighborhood. According to the firm’s website, Aragon also has a 70-unit development called Zag, located at 1750 N Glendale Blvd. The property offers a mix of one- and two-bedroom apartments, townhomes and live/work lofts and was built in 2022.
