Encinitas’ Pacific View Art Center Set for Grand Opening in June

By The Registry Staff

Encinitas is gearing up for the grand opening of its Pacific View Art Center this June. The city’s latest cultural gem will initially operate with a five-day-week, limited-hours schedule, with plans to expand based on its initial success, the San Diego Union Tribune reported.

The facility is located in downtown Encinitas on the block between 3rd and 4th Streets and West E and F Streets. It is set to open to the public shortly after a ribbon-cutting event, marking the culmination of a multi-million-dollar renovation effort on the former Pacific View School property, purchased by the city in 2014. At that time, the City paid $10 million for the site.

Construction on the site began in 2022, according to a landing page for the project on the City’s website. Overall, the renovation project included updates to the roofing, electrical panels, wiring, restrooms, light fixtures, ceilings, window glass, doors, frames and other structural upgrades. The center will also boast eight rooms dedicated to various arts programs, covering visual arts, performing arts, music, broadcasting, fabric-related courses, and literary/healing/floral arts programs.

The grand opening is slated for either June 4 or June 28, pending the completion of electrical work by San Diego Gas & Electric in mid-April and final building renovations at the end of May, per the report.

The initial operating hours will be from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on weekdays and 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on weekends
