A 32-acre property on Country Club Drive in La Jolla has recently sold for $35 million, making it the most expensive home sale in the community’s history. The estate, located at 7007 Country Club Drive, encompassing the 23,000-square-foot Foxhill Estate, was formerly owned by hotel developer Doug Manchester and, before that, the Copley family, past owners of the San Diego Union-Tribune.

The property was purchased by Foxhill Invco Two LLC, a San Diego-based investment group that includes CEO Larry Hershfield. Manchester acquired the estate in 2015, initially purchasing 8 acres and subsequently expanding the footprint to its current size. He attempted to sell the property for the past several years.

Amenities of the estate include expansive ocean views, orchards, gardens, a gym, an eight-car garage, a greenhouse, staff quarters, a formal dining room, a three-hole golf course, a pool pavilion, and the 10-bedroom, 14-bathroom Foxhill Estate.

While Manchester held approvals for constructing additional luxury homes on the land, he did not pursue that route. The new investment group has not yet confirmed its plans for the property. However, real estate experts suggest the land may be subdivided for the construction of several additional luxury homes and sold individually.

The most recent county-wide record for real estate sales was set in October when a property sold for $44.1 million in Del Mar.
