Casey Brown Company’s 343,000 SQFT AMP&RSAND Development in San Diego Secures Four New Tenants

SAN DIEGO, Calif. ––  Cushman & Wakefield announced that AMP&RSAND, an award-winning creative office redevelopment of the former San Diego Union-Tribune HQ and Press in San Diego’s Mission Valley area, has added four exciting new tenants.

Owned and developed by Casey Brown Company, AMP&RSAND is located at 350 Camino De La Reina, and comprises two Class A buildings totaling 343,000 square feet. Cushman & Wakefield’s Derek Hulse, Morgan Reno and Brett Ward handle Project Leasing and represented the landlord in each of the transactions.

Denver based Campos EPC, an established Industry Leader in the Utility, Energy and Midstream sectors, leased 11,010 square feet of office space on the 5th floor of the Stack Building. Campos joins industry leaders Turner Construction and Harley Ellis Devereaux Corp. (HED) that recently opened offices at AMP&RSAND.

“Campos EPC is thrilled to move into the dynamic and collaborative working environment at AMP&RSAND later this year. We are very much looking forward to being in a space that allows us to enjoy the San Diego weather with ample outdoor working spaces, as well as the benefits offered to our employees such as an onsite gym with dedicated personal trainer,” said Mickenzie Cross, PMP, Regional Director at Campos EPC. “The AMP&RSAND property is an exciting space with ample room for us to grow while offering amenities that many employees in the workforce have come to expect. Having opened our first office in San Diego in 2016, we have outgrown our initial footprint and are looking forward to being in a space that will attract talent and clients.”

Therapie Bistro and Wine Bar was also added to the tenant roster recently celebrating its grand opening at AMP&RSAND. A fresh concept from the creators and operators of the popular Superbloom Café at Mission Bay Beach Club, Therapie Bistro and Wine Bar serves an array of coffee, drinks, fresh pastries, and an array of other curated salads, sandwiches, and specialty items.

Bradley Schnell, Owner of Therapie Bistro, said, “The project has exceptional outdoor spaces and amenities that one would expect to see in cities like New York or Los Angeles. Its location and composition of creative companies create a community that we are very pleased to be a part of. We are excited to see it become a centerpiece of the west end of Mission Valley and grateful to be a part of growing this location into a hotspot to work, live, and, of course, dine.”

Casey Brown, President of Casey Brown Company, said, “The reimagination of this iconic San Diego landmark into a modern, amenitized Class A campus wholly focuses on the needs of the tenants. We are honored to have Campos, which along with Turner and HED, adds to an already impressive office roster. Therapie also provides another great healthy food & beverage on-site amenity for our tenants and surrounding community. Employees can quickly grab and go or enjoy breakfast, lunch, or happy hour in the new trendy café or on the outdoor patio.”

Additional on-site amenities include a full-service urban fitness center operated by BmoreFit along with a yoga studio, and resort-style showers and lockers. The fitness center offers state of the art exercise equipment, yoga studio, one-on-one group training sessions, and resort-style shower and locker facilities.

There are also six unique Outdoor Meeting and Conferencing Pods that were freshly recreated out of the loading dock area of the former Union Tribune Press building.

The property is also within walking distance to the Fashion Valley Trolley Station and an abundance of nearby retail, restaurant, and entertainment amenities.

AMP&RSAND was the recipient of the Engineering News-Record (ENR) award for Best Project Renovation/Restoration in Southern California for 2019.

Executive Director Derek Hulse said, “This western corridor of Mission Valley is going through one of San Diego’s most significant transformations with the redevelopment of Riverwalk, the completion of the redevelopment of Town & Country and several other large-scale multi-family development projects together with AMP&RSAND as Mission Valley’s only adaptive re-use office campus.”

Pete Shearer, Senior Director at Hines, added, “Mission Valley has, since its inception, lacked the sense of place that defines the great neighborhoods of San Diego.  The future of Mission Valley West will be a great neighborhood centered around retail main streets, parks, and open space.  The charm and character that attracts people to places like our beach communities, Little Italy, South Park, etc, is what is missing from Mission Valley.  That’s what Riverwalk and these other projects will provide.”

Brent Schertzer, Managing Director at Holland Group, continued, “Mission Valley West offers a central location and convenient access to the wider county, while serving as a primary job cluster in San Diego.  The corridor boasts a slightly more suburban living experience, while still offering a large variety and density of retail shopping, dining and recreation options unparalleled elsewhere in San Diego.  The quality of life and access to outdoor trails, beaches and bayfront all provide outdoor amenities within a short commute.  The long-term draw of residents, employers and further investment into Mission Valley West will help further propel this dynamic redevelopment corridor ahead over the next decade.”
