Manufactured Housing Finance Veteran Erik Edwards Joins CBRE in San Diego

SAN DIEGO – Sept. 13, 2022 – CBRE announced today that Erik Edwards has joined its San Diego office as a Senior Vice President with the company’s Debt and Structured Finance Group. Mr. Edwards will partner with Senior Vice President Norm Sangalang with the CBRE National Manufactured Housing & RV Resorts (MHRV) Specialty Practice to help build the company’s Manufactured Housing Communities (MHC) platform and provide financing for MHC investors and landlords.

With more than 21 years of experience in commercial real estate finance, Mr. Edwards joins CBRE from Wells Fargo. Most recently, he served as Director with the bank’s Multifamily Capital Finance Group, where he led and participated in originating and closing more than $5 billion in agency loans, and other loans brokered to outside lenders, on MHC throughout the U.S.

Before serving as Director at Wells Fargo, he was a Vice President with the bank’s real estate capital markets, real estate managed assets, and real estate merchant banking groups. During that time, he was responsible for all small loan Commercial Mortgage-Backed Securities originations in the Western U.S., managed a portfolio of distressed commercial real estate loans in the wake of the Great Recession, and worked on balance sheet programs and construction loan originations for the bank’s clients.

Outside of his time at Wells Fargo, Mr. Edwards served as a Managing Director with Greystone & Co. in Carlsbad, where he was responsible for CMBS originations in the Western U.S., and as a Vice President with iStar Financial (previously Fremont Investment & Loan) in Irvine, where he led or participated in the closing of over $1 billion in real estate loans in Hawaii, California and Oregon. He began his career in commercial real estate as an appraiser with Cushman & Wakefield’s Valuation and Advisory Services Group.

Mr. Edwards holds a bachelor’s degree in business economics from the University of California, Santa Barbara, and an MBA from the University of California, Irvine. He is a regular speaker at manufactured housing industry conferences and forums, and he’s published several articles in MHC trade publications.
