California shipped $17.696 billion in goods abroad in August, a 15.2 percent annual gain led by electronics and farm exports, Beacon Economics reports, but fuel costs running more than 60 percent above last year at the Ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach threaten to squeeze the supply chains carrying that trade.
